Clay is a material that has been commonly in use since time immemorial. This project subverts the perceived characteristics of ceramics, and redefines what this material can be. The momentary fluidity, yet tension of cloth is made permanent when liquid clay transforms into vitrified porcelain. A porcelain plate that is preciously thin and light, and with a captivating texture which flows and ebbs just like cloth.

Crinkle is a celebration of the spirit of artisanal craftmanship. Each step of the process is perfected with utmost care, precision and familiarity, bringing out the qualities of a truly artisanal product. Such techniques of production hint at surprise as no two pieces are ever alike.

Three points of the cloth are pulled up, forming the legs of the plate, while giving it an interesting aesthetic. The process naturally shapes the liquid clay and gives the plate its final form.
The extremely fragile pieces are then sent to the kiln for firing. 16 hours later, a vitrified porcelain piece emerges from the kiln - preciously delicate, yet durable as a functional plate.
